Hi, I’m Dani, a Psych NP Student at OutPsych!

Here’s what shapes how I practice:

Thank you for trusting me with your story. Here is a little of mine. I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology, an ADN in nursing, and I am currently completing my master’s program to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. While my credentials matter, my why matters more.

I relocated from Tennessee—a deeply conservative state—because my family and I needed safety. As a school nurse, I met countless LGBTQ+ youth whose resilience inspired me and whose lack of support deeply affected me. Too many were unseen at home and unable to access affirming mental health care. I knew I could not remain a bystander.

My training centers marginalized and underserved communities, and my passion is serving LGBTQ+ youth and their families. Loving a transgender person has profoundly shaped my understanding of mental health, advocacy, and what it means to move through the world seeking safety and belonging. Alongside my spouse, I advocated at the state level for transgender youth, sometimes making “good trouble.”

As a student clinician, I want to be transparent that this work is also a gift to me. By sharing your story, you are helping shape the kind of provider I become—deepening my understanding, expanding my clinical lens, and allowing me to begin my career as a more informed, affirming, and safe practitioner. I am grateful to learn with you and honored to walk alongside you.

Areas of focus:

  • Supporting Queer and Trans youth

  • Medication Management
